Clearview Public Schools is moving forward with a review of its electoral boundaries to ensure its seven board seats accurately reflect regional populations.

At the Aug. 20 board meeting, trustees received an update on plans to hire an external contractor to conduct a division-wide ward boundary review.

The school division currently elects trustees across seven electoral wards, but officials noted periodic reviews are necessary to account for population changes.

Clearview plans to model its review on a process previously used by Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools.

Under the proposed plan, an independent consultant will lead a five-stage process beginning with an analysis of current demographics, and trustee-to-population ratios.

The contractor will then develop potential boundary options including maintaining one as a baseline, while evaluating travel distances, population density and municipal borders.

Trustees will evaluate the options before sending the selected models to public consultation.

Administration will then compile public input and present final recommendations to the board for a vote.
