On Sept. 10, 2026, World Suicide Prevention Day, the Alberta RCMP unveiled a memorial plaque at its headquarters building in Edmonton, honouring the lives of colleagues whose lives have been lost to suicide.
The plaque is located outside the main entrance on 109 Street for both employee and public access and is one of 15 installed at RCMP divisions nationwide.
The memorial serves as a permanent place of reflection, recognizing the contributions of RCMP employees and the profound impact of their loss on colleagues, friends, and loved ones.
Members of the public are also welcome to visit the site, pay their respects, and take a moment to remember those who served their communities.
“The unveiling of this memorial plaque is an opportunity to remember those we have lost and to reaffirm our commitment to one another,” said Deputy Commissioner Trevor Daroux, Commanding Officer of the Alberta RCMP.
“We must continue building an environment where employees feel safe seeking help, where mental health is treated with the same importance as physical health, and where no one feels alone in their struggles.”
