The Stettler Town and Country Museum brought a taste of the Highlands to the community on September 12, hosting a Scottish celebration as part of Alberta Culture Days.
Highlights included free admission to the grounds, bagpipe performances, Scottish history lectures, craft workshops and artifact displays detailing Scottish heritage.
Attendees also took part in a mini-Highland Games that combined events such as the caber toss, tug-o’-war, and farmer’s walk with competitions including welly wanging and crochet haggis hurling.
In addition to themed food options such as hotdogs topped with whisky sauce, the museum offered mini-golf and ice cream.
Alberta Culture Days is an annual month-long initiative supported by the provincial government to highlight local arts, heritage, and cultural organizations across Alberta.
