The Town of Stettler has approved a $68,373 contract to replace the outdoor digital sign at the Stettler Recreation Centre.
Council voted to award the contract to Blanchett Signage Solutions during their September 15 meeting, following a tender process that began in late July.
The original electronic sign at the S-R-C was purchased in 2013 and no longer works.
Administration noted that the technology is obsolete and replacement LED panels are no longer available.
Blanchett came in under the town’s $85,000 budget by mounting the 60.5-by-151-inch display onto the existing steel supports.
The sign will also include a header board with the Stettler Recreation Centre logo.
A $122,405 bid from Pixel Boom Media Ltd. would have fabricated and installed a new mount for the digital sign.
Town administration plans to utilize the remaining $16,627 from the budget to fund any necessary electrical work or structural reinforcement to the existing steel posts.
All quoted prices exclude GST.
