A community-wide door-to-door effort brought in more than 10,000 pounds of food and over $10,000 in financial donations for the Stettler and District Food Bank on Monday night. (Oct. 5)
Local firefighters, youth athletes, and volunteers joined forces to canvass neighborhoods, picking up bags and boxes of non-perishable goods left on front doorsteps.
Participating groups included players and coaches from the Stettler Minor Football Association and the Stettler Wildcats football team, as well as volunteers from TC Energy and ATCO Electric.
The food bank remained closed Tuesday to allow volunteers time to process the incoming items.
Organizers say residents who missed the door-to-door pickup can still donate electronically via e-transfer to stettlerfoodbankdonation@gmail.com.
