More than 200 Kin Canada members from across Alberta and British Columbia converged on Stettler this weekend for the 2026 District 4 “KinVention.”

The three-day event, which ran from Thursday to Saturday, brought together Kinsmen and Kinettes for hands-on volunteer work.

Dividing into teams across the town, attendees helped build picnic tables and weeding duties at both the northeast Community Gardens and the Community Orchard next to the mall.

Both the Kinsmen & Kinettes and their guests also managed to collect 612 pounds of food for the Stettler Food Bank.

The convention had a “Ride the Rails” theme, paying homage to Stettler’s railway history.

On Friday, delegates boarded a train to nearby Big Valley, where they were treated to a signature Stettler experience, with a mock train robbery.

The weekend wrapped up Saturday with business meetings, a service awards luncheon, and the evening’s formal Governor’s Gala.

The Kinsmen noted they have welcomed four new members over the past two years to bring their roster to 12 members. Their latest fundraising project was the accessible playground on 50 A Ave.

Since chartering in 1950, the Kinnetes club have raised funds for causes including STARS Air Ambulance, the Stettler Hospice Society, the Heartland Youth Centre as well as high school bursaries.

Zone D is made up of Kin clubs from Stettler, Innisfail, Red Deer, Lacombe, Rocky Mountain House, Ponoka and Rimbey.
