The County of Stettler is getting a brand-new view from above after the council approved a contract for updated aerial photography.

During its June 10 meeting, council voted to award the 2026 ortho photo contract to Calgary-based Geodesy Group Inc. for a total cost of $76,882 plus GST.

The project came in under the $85,000 budget set by council in the 2026 capital plan.

Council heard the county aims to update its aerial photography every five years to maintain accurate development data and to track shifting agricultural patterns.

The County of Stettler previously collected aerial imagery in 2003, 2007, 2015, and 2021.

The contract was awarded following a bidding process that drew proposals from eight contractors across Canada.

Weather permitting, the aerial photos will be captured during the summer months. Geodesy Group Inc. is expected to deliver the completed project by October 2026.
