The County of Stettler has committed funding toward the purchase of new IV pumps for local ambulances.
Stettler County council approved the allocation of up to $9,601.49 from its Rural Development Fund during its Aug. 12 meeting.
The grant will support a $31,397.11 request from the Stettler District Ambulance Association (SDAA) to acquire three new intravenous pumps.
According to council documents, the upgrade will replace older, cumbersome equipment currently being used.
Under the proposed structure, the Stettler Health Foundation would fund one-third of the total project cost ($10,465.70).
The remaining two-thirds, ($20,931.41) is to be shared among SDAA member municipalities based on the region’s established inter-municipal formula.
The county support remains conditional on other member municipalities providing their equitable share under the SDAA agreement, as well as the Health Foundation or community fundraising efforts securing the remainder of the balance.
SDAA member councils are reviewing the proposal ahead of the association’s September board meeting, where final project funding will be finalized.
