Daycare Rezoning Application:

First reading has passed on a rezoning application for a new daycare facility in Stettler. The property at 4719-49 St.(formerly Lynes Chiropractic) does not allow a daycare facility, under the land use bylaw.

By rezoning the area from commercial to residential mixed use, the proprietors would be able to construct a fenced outdoor play area.

Council also listed “daycare facility” as a discretionary use, in these types of developments under the land use bylaw. The Municipal Planning Commission will have to approve any of these uses in the future.

Second & third readings on this application may only come after a public hearing. Surrounding homeowners will also be notified by the Town.
