S-R-C Blue Arena Upgrades:

The Stettler Imperials have three projects in mind to improve the hockey experience at the S-R-C.

During the first town council meeting in August, the senior hockey team sought council’s approval to upgrade Dressing Room #1 at the Stettler Recreation Centre.

Their proposal includes painting the room in Imperials themed colours, wooden stalls for the players & new benches & shelving.

The club would also like to install lighting trusses in the Blue Arena, for a spotlight & special effects system for ceremonies & pre-game events.

Finally, the team requested permission to install dimmable recessed lighting in the two meeting rooms overlooking the arena, to improve the gameday experience.

The club will pay for these upgrades, but are seeking the Town’s permission to upgrade their facility.

Council sought clarification the Town would still own these assets if the team were to fold, & that repairs to these upgrades are the responsibility of the hockey team.

S-R-C Blue Arena Glass Replacement
:

The Town of Stettler & Stettler Imperials have come to terms on a contract to replace the windows on the east side of the Blue Arena.

On March 29th, one of the panes of glass broke in the second floor meeting room, sending glass shards into the Blue Arena. Upon inspection, it was found to be regular 5 mm glass, which led to discussions around laminated safety glass.

Over the past few seasons, the Imperials have sought to upgrade the meeting rooms by adding small windows to bring in game sound.

As such, a cost-sharing agreement was established to replace the ten windows in the meeting rooms with laminated safety glass, with a small opening slider.

The Town will also replace the remaining seven windows along the east wall with laminated safety glass.

CR Glass was awarded the $17,865 tender, with a $2,000 contingency for installation. The Town is responsible for $8,650 plus the contingency, while the Imperials will pay the remaining $9,215.

The hope is to have this work completed by the time the Imperials take the ice in the fall.
