You may notice some new heart- shaped plaques on your walks down 44 Ave by the Stettler Rec Centre. A ceremony was held on June 14, 2024 to commemorate two individuals for their contributions to the community.

Elaine Pitt was recognized as a “Pioneer in the Arts”, for her lifelong dedication to choir and vocal teachings in Stettler.

Charlie McKay, known for his work with the Stettler Auction Mart and his unique auctioning cadence, was also recognized as a “Pioneer in Livestock Marketing.”

Mrs. Pitt’s former students and members of the McKay family were on hand for the plaque unveilings.
