A five year contract renewal has been awarded to Environmental 360 Solutions by the Town of Stettler for garbage and recycling pickup.

The tender for $1.43 million over 5 years, was one of five bids received during the Dec 17 meeting.

E-360 took over the previous contract for garbage, recycling and composting from C&S Disposal.

Administration also discussed the progress of the province’s EPR program which takes effect during this contract term.

The Extended Producer Responsibility program requires municipalities to have systems in place for recycling single use & hazardous products.

Originally, Council had opted into phase 1 of the program, starting in April 2025.

During the application process, the town was unable to provide separate detailed costs on recycling as they administer garbage, recycling & composting as one program.

At this time, council voted to instead move to phase 2 of the EPR program, set to start in October of 2026.

If the Town were to opt out of the EPR program, it would turn over the collection of residential recycling to the province’s selected contractor.
