The Stettler & District Handi-bus Society has received their new van after the lease expired on their bus last year. The service provides transportation for seniors 60 years & over, as well as to handicapped people of all ages.

Often seen around Stettler assisting folks with their medical appointments and other stops, the bus runs Mon-Fri for a $6 rate each way. The bus also makes stops in the County for $18.00 a person, although it must be booked a few days beforehand.

The handi-bus makes scheduled stops from Tuesday to Friday at Willow Creek at 9:40, Heart Haven at 9:45 and Paragon Place at 10 AM each morning.

Finally, weekend, evening & holidays service is available for wheelchair passengers, so long as it’s booked a few days in advance.

In 2024, the bus took a total of 5,176 trips, with just over 1,500 of those for medical appointments.

The society also made 128 trips into the county, bringing their cost per trip to about $27.45. As rates are only $6.00, the service would not be possible without support from generous business owners who help subsidize the cost.

Tickets can be purchased on the bus or at the Handi-bus Office in the FCSS building on Main Street. For more information, call 403-742-5858.
