Main Street was closed off on Saturday afternoon as residents and visitors gathered for the third annual Stettlerfest.
Running from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. across downtown Stettler, the event featured sidewalk sales, an artisan market, food trucks, and a car show.
A highlight of the afternoon was the annual Soapbox Derby, hosted by the BGC Stettler – Heartland Youth Center.
Announced by Alex Mykyta of Hometown Media Stettler, the races saw young participants launch their soapbox derbies down the street, competing to see whose vehicle could cover the furthest distance.
Two stages featured live music throughout the day on August 8, showcasing talent including Simone Brugman, Tobi Babatunde, Terry Dortman, the musical duo Julie & Jim, and Bradley Abel and Bradford Lawlor.
Attendees also visited face-painting stations, a touch-a-truck area with emergency service vehicles, and a local pet adoption event.
Downtown shoppers also took part in a festival-wide “Find Sunny” contest for a chance to win $250 in Heart of Alberta Dollars.
