Annual sponsorship of local 4-H clubs was on the agenda for the first Stettler County council meeting of the month. (Feb 12)
The four Stettler District 4-H clubs hail from Byemoor, Big Knife, Erskine & Big Valley, and compete each May at the annual beef show & sale.
Council traditionally funds $400 for the Intermediate Excellence Award, but were asked to increase that amount to $1,000, to ensure all four club nominees receive a monetary prize.
Each of the four clubs selects a nominee to show off their best calf, and the County then selects a winner.
Council voted to approve the increase, to be funded from the rural development fund.
