Some changes this year to how the County of Stettler sends out their graders after a snowfall.

Operations staff have split the County into nine areas instead of seven, to focus on a three day snow clearing schedule after the first heavy snowfall.

Two graders operate out of the Donalda yard (GB #7 & 8), with one stationed in Gadsby (GB #3), Byemoor (GB #1) & Big Valley. (GB#2) The four remaining graders (GB #4, 5, 6 & 9) depart from the County’s operations yard south of Stettler.

Council heard during their Feb 12 meeting that each grader covers roughly 150 miles of roads during their snow clearing routes. Each grader area also borders at least three other grader beats to allow fellow operators to assist if needed.
