Stettler Town Council has given the thumbs up to purchase a new mechanical street sweeper.
Council approved the decision during their April 1 council meeting, for a 2025 Elgin Broom Bear for $505,932.32 excluding GST.
The tender to Joe Johnson Equipment includes a combined seven year warranty, along with additional equipment for the street sweeper.
Council had allocated $500,000 in the 2025 capital budget for a new street sweeper.
The town currently operates a 2015 Elgin Broom Bear, which will be put up for sale, with an expected return of between $80,000-$100,000.
