Plans to replace the cast iron watermains along 50th Avenue have been put on hold.
Town Council heard during their May 6 meeting that $490,000 was allocated in the 2025 budget to replace the watermains on 50th Ave between 50 & 52 St.
After issuing bids for tender, five were received back all over the budgeted amount. Staff explained the two companies which generally bid for Town of Stettler contracts are busy this spring.

Council passed a motion to decline issuing a tender at this time and will revisit the project in July to see if project estimates are in line with the $490,000 budget.
If the tender is awarded, construction would aim to start in the fall. If the new tenders are not within the budget or there are scheduling conflicts, staff would look to council to carry the project forward to the 2026 budget.
