Federal Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre made a stop in Stettler on Canada Day, greeting residents gathered for local celebrations at West Stettler Park.

Poilievre, accompanied by his wife Anaida, spent about an hour at the park on July 1, meeting with constituents in the Battle River–Crowfoot riding, just days after a federal byelection was announced.

Outgoing MP Damien Kurek was also in attendance to introduce Poilievre to the gathered crowd.

The couple participated in the Canada Day parade in Drumheller in the morning, with a stop in Hanna in the afternoon, before continuing on to Sedgewick later that evening for their fireworks.

The byelection for Battle River–Crowfoot is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 18.
