The Stettler Imperials were handed their first regulation loss of the season on January 2, 2026, in Sedgewick. It wasn’t the ideal way to start the New Year. The Imperials would only get on the board once that night and would fall 4-1.

Game 2 of the New Year was at the Stettler Rec Centre. They were at home to the Oyen Eagles and hoping not to drop two in a row.

Stettler would score twice in the first period. Fournier and Shingoose would contribute to the Imperials early lead.

In the second period Thornton of the Eagles would get Oyen within one goal, looking to tie it up in the third period.

Not only would the Eagles tie the game in the third, but they would get the lead halfway through the period.

Stettler, now facing two losses in a row, had to score to force OT. It didn’t take them long to do that. 34 seconds after the Eagles goal, Houston of the Imperials would fire it home and tie the game.

22 seconds into OT, Shingoose would take a big hit, leading to the loose puck going to Pighin. Pighin would then send a nice backhand pass to Wright, who would then put the puck past the goalie to give the Imperials the victory. After celebrating the team would all make their way over to Shingoose to make sure he was okay. The Imperials improved their record to (12-1-1)
