Council’s new building incentives and streamlines processes put developers ahead and make Stettler the ideal place to invest.
The Town of Stettler Council continues to demonstrate its commitment to fostering economic development and supporting residential growth in the community.
Council recently approved two key initiatives to encourage building and investment in Stettler.
First, a new policy waives fees for municipal water and wastewater service connections for infill developments.
This change makes it easier and more cost-effective for builders and property owners to develop with existing municipal infrastructure.
In addition, Council has passed a residential tax incentive bylaw designed to stimulate new residential construction.
The bylaw provides a reduction in the municipal portion of property taxes on the increased assessment from new builds, structured as follows: 100% reduction in year one, 75% in year two, 50% in year three, and 25% in year four.
This incentive applies to all new residential units, from single-family dwellings to fourplexes and larger apartment buildings, supporting growth across all types of housing.
Building on previous success, from the non-residential tax incentive, which was passed in 2023, Council anticipates that the new residential tax incentive will generate similar positive results, encouraging development and investment in the community.

“By providing tangible incentives, we are making Stettler an attractive place to invest, build, and call home. With a tight residential market and a low vacancy rate, Council is eager to attract developers to meet the strong demand for new housing in Stettler.”
