County of Stettler officials have issued a call for residents of the Buffalo Sands community to inspect their homes for water leaks.

The notice, issued at midday on Monday, comes after workers noticed an unexplained surge in wastewater volume.

Despite the increase, officials say residential water meters have not flagged any individual households for high consumption.

“We haven’t found any residential meters using an alarming amount of volume,” the County stated in a public notice.

“We are suspecting there may be a water leak that is occurring at the meter itself, or just prior to the meter inside the home.”

What Residents Should Do:

Check the area surrounding your water meter for dampness, pooling water, or the sound of running water.

Look for leaks or drips where the main line enters the home before it hits the meter.

Residents who identify a leak or suspicious moisture near their service entry are encouraged to contact the County of Stettler immediately.
