Drumheller-Stettler UCP MLA Nate Horner Not Seeking Re-Election

Alberta Finance Minister Nate Horner has announced he is stepping down from his cabinet post & will not seek re-election in the next provincial vote.

The Drumheller-Stettler MLA announced his departure on Wednesday ahead of an expected cabinet shuffle by the provincial government.

Horner, who has served as finance minister & as President of the Treasury Board since June 2023, says he plans to stay on as the local MLA until the next election.

Hospital & Surgical Services Minister Matt Jones also announced Wednesday that he does not intend to run again.

Candidates have already begun canvassing the Drumheller-Stettler area in recent weeks, vying for the United Conservative Party nomination ahead of the 2027 election.

Drumheller-Stettler MLA Nate Horner has announced in a letter to the legislative assembly that he will not be seeking re-election after this term.
