The County of Stettler has voted to dissolve its Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework with Camrose County.
Council approved the termination at its Aug. 12 meeting under Bill 50, passed in May 2025, which allows neighboring municipal districts to repeal joint frameworks if both parties agree the ICF is redundant.
A review presented to council highlighted the natural geography such as Buffalo Lake, limits the need for shared local infrastructure as the main connection through Highway 56 is provincial jurisdiction.
Meanwhile, Highway 53 is the only shared boundary road and is also under provincial jurisdiction, while regional utility distribution is governed by the Shirley McClellan Regional Water Services Commission.
