Those driving by Wm. E Hay. High School may notice a new crosswalk dedicated to those who’ve served our county.
Town crews installed the sidewalk in mid-September across from Memorial Park to honour those who’ve served in the Canadian Armed Forces.
Legion members then joined town staff for an official dedication of the crosswalk on the morning of September 28.
Stettler Legion Branch 59 President Ray Cerniuk took a brief moment to thank the town and council for taking the initiative to place the commemoration to the veterans.
Mayor Gord Lawlor also thanked the town staff for their work installing the sidewalk, noting elected officials often get a lot of the credit for town projects.
After the dedication, the public was invited for coffee and refreshments at the Legion.
Town staff are planning to place more veteran sidewalks around the community, including in front of the Stettler Legion branch.
