The Town of Stettler is moving forward with upgrades to its municipal shop after council approved nearly $48,000 in contracts during its April 7 meeting.
The project, which includes the installation of energy-efficient LED lighting & the replacement of four overhead doors in the shop’s mechanic’s bay, comes in slightly over the town’s budget of $42,000.
Administration received three bids for the lighting portion of the project. Stettler Electric was awarded the contract for $7,575.
For the overhead door replacements, council awarded the work to ComTec Overhead Door Experts for $39,793.67, one of two bids.
The new doors will be solid with windows, a change from the current semi-transparent style for improved insulation.
While the combined total of $47,368.67 (excluding GST) exceeds the original $42,000 budget, the town is looking to offset the costs.
Administration noted that the project may qualify for up to $15,000 through ATCO’s Clean Energy Fund.
