The Town of Stettler has awarded its 2026 road paving contract to TJ Paving Ltd., that comes in well under the municipality’s projected budget.

Town council voted at its May 19 meeting to award the tender to the Red Deer-based company for $604,077.

The contract focuses heavily on the reconstruction of 50 Avenue between 54 and 57 Streets.

While the town had allocated $800,000 in its 2026 capital budget for the 50 Avenue project, the total expected cost is now projected at $595,999.

An additional $150,000 was budgeted for miscellaneous pavement patching. TJ Paving’s tender valued that portion of the work at $132,982.

The patching contract covers multiple locations across Stettler, including sections of 49 Avenue, the 49 Avenue train crossing, the 47 Avenue intersection, the alleys on 20, 49 and 51 Street, and the service road south of Highway 12.

Council was told the contracted work targets areas that town equipment cannot accommodate.

Smaller patching projects throughout the municipality will continue to be handled by town crews over the course of the year.

TJ Paving submitted the lowest of five bids through the Alberta Purchasing Connection. The project will be funded through the town’s 2026 capital budget.
