Donalda residents will get a look at plans next week for a new regional water infrastructure project.

The Shirley McClellan Regional Water Services Commission (SMRWSC) is hosting a public information session on Tuesday, July 14, to share details regarding a proposed water reservoir and truck fill station.

The drop-in session, running from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Donalda Community Hall, comes ahead of zoning changes scheduled for August.

To clear the way for construction, Donalda’s village council is considering a bylaw which would rezone a 1.46-acre parcel of land north of Township Road 42-0 and west of Railway Avenue.

Municipal documents indicate that without the land-use amendment, the project cannot proceed.

During a special meeting on May 29, the village council voted to authorize Mayor Shaleah Fox and the chief administrative officer to sign a purchase and sale agreement for the site.

While the July 14 event is strictly informational, residents will have a formal opportunity to object or support the development.

Public hearings have been scheduled for Tuesday, August 18, at 7:00 p.m. in the Donalda Council Chambers.

Members of the public can submit written feedback to the village office by August 10.

Following the public hearings, council is expected to vote on the second and third readings of the bylaw to finalize the project’s approval.
