The Town of Stettler council has approved a third three-year contract with its website developer.
In a 6–1 vote on July 21, council greenlit the new agreement with Loop (BoxClever) for the town’s webpage and mobile app, with Coun. Dusty Myshrall opposed.
The previous contract is set to expire on July 31.
The updated pricing model will increase annual costs, pushing 2026 expenditures $2,543.77 over the original budget amount.
Council voted to cover the shortfall using the town’s general reserves.
Town officials noted that Stettler’s municipal website, which launched in early 2021 is beginning to show its age.
Under the new agreement, website refresh costs are bundled directly into the three-year term.
Administration stated it plans to pursue a full website redesign sometime in 2027.
Discussion around the council table included debate over whether to seek comparable quotes from other developers before renewing.
Administration cautioned against shopping around given the tight timeline with the current contract expiring at the end of the month.
