Rodeo action takes centre stage this week as the Stettler County Fair & Rodeo kicks off starting today. (July 27)
Festivities begin with calf roping at 4 p.m. with the Beau Cooper Invitational at the Stettler Agricultural Society grounds.
The action continues Tuesday, (July 28) with the Zeke Thurston Invitational Saddle Bronc Futurity at 6 p.m.
The futurity will also be broadcast over on Hometown Productions & Media’s YouTube channel.
Wednesday night (July 29) brings the big ticket event with the Zeke Thurston Invitational Xtreme Broncs Challenge.
Grounds and beer gardens open at 3 p.m., followed by the calcutta auction at 6 p.m. and competition from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Thursday (July 30) features the Alberta team sorting, heavy horse pulls, and the ranch rodeo competition running into the evening.
Friday (July 31) starts with a free community pancake breakfast hosted by the County of Stettler at 8 a.m at the Agri-plex.
Agricultural displays will take place throughout Friday and Saturday (Aug 1) including the junior simmental cattle show, a bench show, and poultry exhibition.
The Stettler County Fair Rodeo performances run Friday and Saturday at 6:30 p.m., with wild pony races on Friday and a youth calf scramble on Saturday.
General admission tickets for the Xtreme Broncs Challenge are $60 (VIP $120; children six and under free).
Tickets for the Saddle Bronc Futurity and both main rodeo performances are $20 each, with children 12 and under admitted free.
