Clearview Public Schools is waiting on direction from Alberta Education before it can advance architectural plans for a major overhaul of the Stettler school complex.
On August 20, board trustees received an update on the proposed “Stettler Solution”, a major project aimed at reconfiguring both Stettler Elementary School and the Wm. E. Hay Stettler Secondary Campus.
According to division documents, Clearview administration must await provincial scope guidelines before submitting them for a detailed cost analysis.
To strengthen its position, the board is preparing an independent engineering audit of the facility.
Following a board motion passed in March, Calgary-based KR Engineering was hired to perform a structural assessment report.
The review will evaluate mechanical and HVAC infrastructure, electrical systems, as well as the state of the roof.
Consultants completed their on-site inspections on Aug. 13, ahead of a final report at the end of August.
The report will establish a 30-year capital plan and an index on facility conditions to support provincial funding applications.
Upgrading the school complex and constructing a new K-6 facility currently stand as Clearview’s top capital priorities.
The project has secured municipal backing, with Stettler town council designating the facility overhaul as the primary objective on its strategic plan following a building tour earlier this year.
