Stettler residents have started receiving blue recycling carts as the municipality prepares to shift its curbside collection to Alberta’s provincial program.
The change takes effect Oct. 1, transferring management of the municipal recycling system to Circular Materials, a national non-profit organization.
The 360-litre carts are being delivered to every residential property that currently receives curbside or back-alley recycling services.
Residents will be able to sort paper and cardboard into the carts, along with cartons, plastic packaging, foam containers, metal cans, and glass jars.
Blue cart collection will begin on Oct. 7 for residents in the green collection zone, while households in the red and yellow zones will see their collection begin on Oct. 14.
Empringham Disposal Corp. has been contracted to oversee operations, including missed collections, cart replacements, and general inquiries.
