Stettler County Council 2025-2029: (Back Row) L-R: CAO Yvette Cassidy, Councillor Clint Walker, Councillor James Nibourg, Councillor Justin Stevens, Director of Municipal Services Andrew Brysiuk. (Front Row) L-R: Deputy Reeve Allan Gano, Reeve Larry Clarke, Councillor Janet Adam, Councillor Wade Hunter.

The County of Stettler council has adjusted its fall meeting schedule to accommodate Remembrance Day and an upcoming provincial conference.

During its Sept 9 meeting, council approved a motion setting the 2026 organizational meeting for Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 10 a.m.

Organizational meetings are held to allow council members to elect the county reeve internally from among themselves, and to determine councillor committee assignments for the year.

Councillors also voted to reschedule the first regular meeting of November to Tues, Nov. 10 at 10 a.m.

Originally set for Nov. 11, the meeting fell on Remembrance Day, when council members will be attending local ceremonies.

Council also approved a motion to cancel the Nov 4 Committee of the Whole meeting, as the date conflicted with the Rural Municipalities of Alberta conference.

If the council determines that a committee session is still required in October, the county can advertise with two weeks’ notice to hold a meeting in November.
